Eileen Mary Grip - Centurelli, 82, 4 January 2025
of New Britain, passed away peacefully on at the Hospital of Central CT.Eileen
was born on October 24, 1942 in New Britain. Eileen graduated from New Britain
High School in 1960 and then graduated from New Britain General Hospital
School of Nursing. She worked at New Britain General Hospital for many years
as well as other medical facilities including the Hospital for Special Care.
She later graduated from CCSC and taught nursing at EC Goodwin Tech.Eileen
faithfully attended Mass at St. Jerome Church. She enjoyed camping, bingo,
arts and crafts, and reading. Eileen is survived by her loving husband,
Peter Centurelli Jr.; her sister, Shelley Orlando in California; her sister-in-law,
Carol Bonfiglio; five children, Anthony Centurelli, Judith (Ernest) DeFelice,
Sandra (Rich Ministro) Centurelli, Joseph (Nella) Centurelli, and Steveann
Centurelli; thirteen grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Gage, Nicholas, Victor, Eric,
Adam, Christopher, Michael, Samantha, Sophie, Zachary, Holly, and Robert;
and eight great grandchildren, Alex, Logan, Emily, Duncan, Freya, Riley,
Giuliana, and Izabella. Eileen was predeceased by her sister, Betty Landry.Funeral
services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Erickson-
Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Rd., New
Britain. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in New Britain. Calling
hours will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at

Carol Ann (Ciarcia) Schreiber, 82, 17 Januaru 2025
of Tariffville, passed away peacefully Friday, January 17th at Cherry Brook Heath Care Center, Canton, CT after a long illness. Born October 24, 1942 in New Britain, CT, she was the daughter of the late Mario John Ciarcia and Irene Elizabeth (Supernant) Ciarcia. She lived most of her life in New Britain, CT. On September 14, 1994, she married the love of her life, Donald W. Schreiber. She was a loving and doting grandmother and special Aunt, who had taken care of her niece after the tragic death of her sister Diane Ciarcia. Carol truly loved her role as a wife, mother and grandmother “CC”. Her family watched how she took care of her niece and ailing mother, without wavier. Her sacrifices to the ones she loved and the example she set is the legacy that will live on in all of us. Carol is survived by her son, Bryant Chatfield and his wife Beth of Avon, her grandchildren, Brandon Chatfield and fiancé Amber Dupont of Plainville and Dr. Sydney Chatfield of NYC, sister Barbra Fleet and niece Chrissa Fleet of RI and niece Victoria Carrabba, special cousins, Kathy Kretz and her husband Richard Kretz and many loved family members! She was predeceased by the love of her life Donald W. Schreiber, daughter Shannon Chatfield, sister Diane Ciarcia, parents Mario and Irene Ciarcia, and special aunt Betty (Supernant) Partyka. The family would like to thank Cherry Brook Heath Care Center for the incredible care and love given to Carol and the entire family. This was above and beyond expectations, we truly feel you treated her like family, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Nanci Joan (Metzler) Budnick, 82, 23 January 2025
of Vernon, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Manchester Memorial
Hospital. Born in New Britain, she was the beloved daughter of the late
William Metzler, Sr. and Olga (Johnson) Metzler.
Nanci was a proud graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1960, and
went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from
CCSC.
Affectionately known as “Mrs. B,” she dedicated over 25 years to teaching
elementary students in the area, including St. Thomas the Apostle School
in West Hartford and most recently at Parkville Community School in Hartford.
Passionate about education, Nanci touched countless lives with her kindness
and dedication. Her excellence in teaching was recognized when she was honored
with Hartford’s Teacher of the Year Award in 2008.
Beyond her career, Nanci’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.
She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating
memories that will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Jack) Pacheco of Tolland, CT, and
their children, Mollie and Charlotte; her son, David (Jennifer) Budnick
of Charlotte, NC, and their children, Tyler, Lillie, and John; her son,
William “Bill” (Kathleen) Budnick of Charlotte, NC, and their children,
Jessica, Will, and Amelia; and her son, Danny Budnick of Rock Hill, SC,
and his children, Emily and Jake. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia
(Robert) Anderson of Southington, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Nanci was predeceased by her parents and her brother, William Metzler, Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on her birthday, Thursday, February 27,
2025, at 10:30 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain.
Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours
will take place on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM prior to the Celebration
of Life.

Joyce (Giaquinta) Mancarella, 82, 2 March 2025
Josephine A. (Gionfriddo) Mancarella, beloved wife, mother, and Nanna,
passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday March 2, 2025, surrounded by
her loving family.Joyce, as she was known to many, was born in New Britain
on December 15, 1942, the last surviving of four children to the late Sebastian
and Frances (Giaquinta) Gionfriddo. Joyce attended New Britain High School
and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Connecticut State
University. A wealth of knowledge, she was always eager to learn and grow.For
over 60 wonderful years, Josephine was married to the love of her life,
Paul Mancarella. They built a family and a beautiful life, and together,
owned and operated All Seasons Spirit Shop in Plainville. Their shared passion
for hard work was matched only by their devotion to family. Known for her
selflessness and generous spirit, she was a constant presence in her family’s
lives and she poured love into everything she did, from her bountiful garden
and decorating her home, to the delicious meals she prepared. She found
peace and joy at the beach, captivated by the ocean’s beauty. An avid supporter
of the UCONN Huskies and the Boston Red Sox, she cheered with the same fervor
she brought to all aspects of life. Josephine will be remembered for her
caring nature, deep love for her family, and the countless lives she touched
along the way. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.In addition
to her husband Paul, she leaves her children, Jeffrey Mancarella and his
husband Todd; Janice Portlock and her husband Tom; and Lori Plumley and
her husband Sam; her four adored grandchildren, Jack and Brynn Portlock
and Parker and Bailee Plumley; along with many nieces and nephews that she
loved dearly, including her nephews Mark and Sal Gionfriddo with whom she
shared a special bond. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and Salvatore
Gionfriddo and her sister Lucille Petralia.In lieu of flowers, Joyce may
